Northern Peninsula Regional Service Board

Authority Status

On February 23, 2004 Minister Jack Byrne, Municipal and Provincial Affairs, granted authority status to NWMA for Subregions 1 & 2.  On April 10, 2008 Minister Dave Denine, Municipal and Provincial Affairs, granted athority stutus to NPRSB for Subregion 3.  Authority status is defined by the Regional Services Board Act as:


(1)  
The Board has the power to:

a)  construct, acquire, maintain and operate waste disposal systems and/or sites.

b)  charge user fees to a municipality, local service district, or unincorporated area listed in appendices 1, or another municipality, local service district or unincorporated area, or other users of a facility or service provided by the Board.

c)  any other powers prescribed by the Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs, under the Regional Services Board Act.
